Logan birthday madness!
Yet another Little kid birthday has come and gone. My sweet 'baby' boy is now a big 3 year old! Amazing and a little sad to realize that I no longer have 'babies' I have a 3 year old and 4 year old! WOW...like they say...time flies! Logan has been obsessed with trains lately and he made out like a bandit...train decorations , train cake and a huge train set with tons and tons of accessories! Big thanks to all of you who came over to celebrate with us, Logan was the happiest boy on earth(that is until we tried to drag him away from the cardboard train in the front yard to come have cake!..ha!)no day would be complete without a Logan breakdown.

A Logan kind of morning
It never ceases to amaze me how very different both of my children are. Both so special and wonderful in their own unique ways. A sweet moment alone with one them reminds me of just how strong and amazing the bond between mother and child is. Today Logan woke up early and came to my bed. "Mama up, Mama up!" he said . Reluctantly I got out of bed knowing that he would only continue to pester me. He took my hand, lead me up the stairs and asked for cereal. I poured two bowls and he picked his up and headed for the the door. Breakfast on the front step on a cool late summer morning , the shipyard just a few blocks away blares the 'star spangled banner' at 8 am sharp, the sky was cloudy and he was so pleased to have me all to himself for a moment. Logan is so needy sometimes, so serious and intense, especially when I am here alone and it can be frustrating. Today, I savored the moment and realized that someday he won't need me at all and I better just give as much as I can while I have the chance. The wind licked us a few times and the sun has not yet peaked out from the clouds. Of course on our way back inside he dropped his bowl and made a mess and started crying those big sad tears he always does, no day would be complete with out a them, it really was a Logan kind of morning.
P.S.....if you look closley you can see Logans birthmark, he has a perfectly square little brown spot on the lower right side of his face, I always forget and try to wipe it off..ha!

Time Flies
I know,I know, I said I would keep up with this......but life has been hectic here. I could tell you about all the crappy(literally, plumbing issues) stuff but I'll spare you and just post a few new pics of Lilly and Lo looking so darned BIG. I just realized that Lo will be 3 freaking years old in a couple of months!..WOW. Anyways I have been busy painting the dining room so look for a post with pics sometime soon!
I just can't believe how big both of them look in theses pictures...and Logan is sending that kiss face directly out to his Auge...he sent her a voice mail last week and has been handing me the phone and asking me to call her 10 times a day ever since!

Spin
Here we go..... BJ has been gone on 'mission'(I really like saying mission, kinda sounds all important but really he is out doing some boring stuff) for almost 2 weeks now and we have been non-stop 24-7 busy busy busy. I try to fill everyday with something exciting...you know what they say 'time flies when you're havin fun'..right? I am babysitting a few days a week to try to keep up with the bills and Lilly's school tuition will be starting in a few weeks. We have been planing and attending events with the Moms meetup group
http://playgroup.meetup.com/494/ (I am sure there is a way to make that a link but I am useless with the computer so you'll just have to copy and paste if you wanna check it out)
and enjoying the sunshine while it's here, we have a short summer here in Washington , blink and you might miss it! There are still tons of details I need to go back and fill in from the past few months(like Lill's birthday party for example) but tonight I am looking forward not back. I'll make this simple and just write a list of some of things we are looking forward to the rest of this year.
1. My birthday tomorrow(do birthdays count after 30?aww who cares...I'm going out with friends..kid free YAY!)
2. Pike Family BBQ Saturday(for those of you who don't know...it's a big awesome super fun party thrown every year by our close friends..yay free food!..ha)
3. Lilly's starts school September 3rd, Tuesday through Friday 9:15-11:45 , that's 10 hours per week Lilly free, maybe we can focus on getting Logan potty trained?...maybe
4. Lots of fun events with my Moms meetup group
5. Fall is my favorite season(yup it'll be here before you know it!) looking forward to another super fun Halloween with cute costumes and trick or treating
6. Logan will transitioning out of his early intervention program for speech therapy and into the school district in November after his birthday..yay!
7. Logan turns 3 in November..YIKES!?..already!
8. If all goes as planned? BJ will be home before Logan's birthday
9. and then the holidays are just around the corner...hope we can make it back to the midwest to be with family, I miss everyone sooo much and Lilly and Logan ask me all the time when we can go see Ague and Papa and Grandpa Pete and AuntDrea and Aunt Bev and everyone else that we miss so much!

Haircut update
s
We went to get the kids haircuts fixed today. Lilly's look very much the same just a little shorter. we did find some super short spots that I did not see at first but it all blends quite nicely. Unfortunately there were also some super short spot in Logan's hair too and I decided to just go ahead and shave it all off and start over. He is still the cutest thing alive but he looks like such a big kid with no hair! Ah well it'll grow quickly.

Unplanned Haircuts
Just when I think I will be spared all of the horror stories of raising children I am zapped back to reality. Earlier today after having lunch and running around outside for hours I figured it was safe to assume Lilly and Logan would be ready for a nap, or at least some quiet time while I worked on my meetup calender. I turned on Blues clues and settled in front of the computer and started working. After about half an hour Lilly came walking in with her pants totally shredded and hanging off her with scissors in her hand. She immediately said "It was Logan, he did it"...yeah...it's always Logan right...I rushed into my bedroom to find scraps of black leggings scattered about and then I spotted something else in the mess...HAIR...big clumps of Lilly and Logan Hair! It could have been worse, Lilly's cute short layered hair is now about 1 inch shorter on the left side and Logan is missing a big chunk out of his cute mohawk. Oh well lesson learned...if it's too quiet they are probably up to no good...and of course this kind of thing only happens while BJ is deployed...ugh.
I took a few pics while we were out at the drive in last night. Really its barely noticeable on Logan. If you look closely at the top right side of his hair you can see the jagged pieces, but it kinda blends in so I don't think we'll need to fix it, just let it grow back out. Lilly will need a little trim on the other side to make it match. You can see how her hair is supposed to be on the right side and the missing chunks on the left...if you look at her head on it just looks like on side is a little thinner. I also included a picture of the shredded leggings(I put some white paper inside so you could see the extent of the damage, and the now hidden in a very high place scissors, ha!

more from the past 6 months (I'm such a slacker)
Some of you have already seen theses pics on myspace...but for those of you who haven't here ya go...wayyyy back in May we were invited to stay with some friends at a vacation house in Winthro WA over Memorial Day weekend. It was a long trip (almost 250 miles)but it was so perfect and beautiful...we had so much fun. Don't get me wrong...I really do miss all of you back in the midwest but there is nothing that compares to the awesomeness of Washington. If you have never been here please please come visit!
Summer sweet summer
we have been busy busy busy so far this summer. we started off around mothers day with a big landscaping/ curb appeal project. BJ worked SOOOOO hard and made a beautiful flowerbed along the front of the house and I painted the front porch. We pulled out most of the over grown plants in the front yard and patched up the empty holes. we still have TONS of work to do but here are a few before and after pics to give you an idea about what a difference it made. We have also been busy with super fun kids stuff including planning and hosting art project play groups, taking advantage of wonderful park district events and going to the drive in a few times.
